And what's worse is when people are not being straight up about what their agendas are when they hit us up in our inboxes, right? Everyones got an agenda so either be straight up about it or shut up.
Look, if you've got an idea of some sort that you're not entirely clear about, and you could authentically use community support around that idea, the best place to start is your facebook friends... BUT the messaging has to be done a certain way so that your messages feel more SOCIAL, and DONT sound or feel even the slight bit salesy and could be perceived as spam. THIS IS WHERE WE NEED TO FIND WORDS That people who dont know Landmark Education would understand. In landmark's Self Expression Leadership Program, every week of that 12 week course, participants are allowed to make community requests. Its been so many years that I dont remember what the rules and structure is for making the request, other than I know the community requests were never about "give me money" or "who do you know that could give me money". It was an awesome space and clearing for people to feel safe and empowered to making requests publically to the group. We would have to literally stand up and make the request. So, let me stop talking about it, and show you an example of what im talking about by letting you see the first broadcast message Scott ever created with an automation software went out to less than 500 of my fb friends and which resulted in 70 people scheduling zoom appointments with me in a 2 month period with 55 of those appointments being scheduled for the month of May 2021 alone. HERE IS A VERSION OF THAT MESSAGE "Hi Stephen , Sameena has experienced many losses during covid but none so devastating as the one I am witnessing her go through this week, which is the drastic deterioration of her grandmother’s health and who could die any time now. Knowing Sameena well over the years, she is thinking and feeling like this kind of pain will never really end – How will life ever go back to normal for her without the presence of her grandmother physically in her life, who she would enjoy to go visit every week at the nursing home? She just cannot imagine that. Sameena’s situation has prompted me to reach out to you - and other people she does and does not know all that well - with a request that you be open to the possibility of spending 30 minutes of face to face time over zoom with Sameena should she wish to do so? I am asking you this because I know how much sameena would benefit right now from daily human connection with a different person each day because of how I saw a similar structure help her back in 2017 when all those strangers came in to our studio, to have a conversation with Sameena while that conversation was multi-camera streamed live on her guests facebook timeline. Now to be clear, if you say yes to my request, the conversation won’t be streamed. I just know that when sameena got severely depressed after losing her ability to ever practice again as a social worker back in 2017, she was brought back to life because of having face to face conversations with a different person every single day (and back then all those people who came in to see sameena had never met her before). So why did I just share that completely self-centred and personal message of mine about my grandmother which has nothing to do with you? Because it has everything to do with what this offer is about and what it's not. When 1111 got it's message out through our multicamera fb live in person streaming with me as your host, the number 1 benefit reported was that "deeper connections and more opportunities seemingly falling into people's laps" compared to anything else they'd ever done on facebook" and why's that? because of what I already said thats so obvious it does not need to be said. just like you, your facebook friends feel there is already too many unwelcomed messages coming into our inboxes from strangers! Just like you, they dont want to be part of the problem. they dont want sales messages coming in from their facebook friends any more than you do. As long as you dont ask them for money or feel or smell to them like you your goal is to somehow get money from them, and you are sensitve to how much you hate strangers asking you questions in your inbox, youre in the vicinity. Please bear with me now as I tell you a story about how we do messaging differently for these kinds of people. The very first multi-camera Facebook live streaming studio in Canada was created by Scott Gallagher for me on April 4th 2017, in response to me confessing to him, during one of my weekly probono intervention sessions with him, that I wanted to end my life. Scott's also the guy who came up with the idea for a very unusual facebook live "show" called 1111 TV (www.ElevenEleven.TV). 1111 platform had a very unusal format, and it was unusual because it was custom created around me based on Scott listening to me. My first episode "coincidentally" took place on the 111th day of the calendar (April 21st) which also happens to be my moms birthday. Scott created all the ghost writen manual messages for me, which personally invited my fb friends whom I had no idea who they were to be a guest with me on my show. This was a couple years before the technology existed for organic automated facebook messenger marketing, which is really kind of the same as an email broadcast or campaign, but its done through messenger instead of gmail. Think about this. Scott is given the idea for doing multi camera fb lives minutes after I tell him I want to end my life, April 4th 2017. Within one year of that date, April 4th 2018, Scott's manual messenger marketing to my fb friends all of which I had never met, caused 300 people to come in person to have a conversation with me that wold be broadcasted live from the studio Scott built for me and Scott anonymously in the background handling all the technical stuff including switching the 3 camera's while I was live with a guest. Even though Scott did create a facebook page for 1111, instead of being broadcasted on my personal timeline, page or group, to promote me, the 1111 conversations I had with my guest were always streamed on the personal timeline of my guests to give the most value possible for the guest even though 1111 was not only free, we would not accept gifts or donations in exchange for being on 1111. And because it was free, Scott created a number of radical non-negotiable rules each guest had to agree to before they showed up. Let's start with the format for the 1111 show, which, by the way is the exact same format Scott taught me to incorporate when doing automated messages for myself or my clients. There was one major controversial format for the show. Neither myself or my guests were allowed to talk about, either directly or indirectly, what we did to make money, what we were an expert in, and no promotion of any kind. Even though I was the original host, I had to follow the same rules as my guest, which meant I could not talk about Scott Gallagher, because doing so would be indirectly promoting Scott and would therefore be a violation of the format. That, by the way is the unselfishness of this man. When my guests which Scott Gallagher got for me by ghost writing personal invitations and manually sending them my fb friends while I was so depressed, Scott makes sure my guests never meet him because Scott wanted me to get all the attention. To this day (unless they are reading these words right now) never knew that all those messages going back and forth between myself and them which ultimately had them come and meet me in person, never knew all the messages were ghost written by Scott. Before automation software tools existed for PERSONAL facebook accounts, Scott taught me how to manually invite strangers to be studio guests of mine using facebook messenger.. These strangers never knew Me, nor did I know them. I had never met, never spoken to, would never know their name or recognize their face even if i was sitting accross the table from them, yet they were my facebook "friends". Look, it doesnt matter what automation tool you use to broadcast messages into your facebook "friends" inboxes, especially when, for those of us smaller guys trying to use facebook to build our businesses, if we're honest with ourselves most of our connections are more accurately FAKE FACEBOOK FRIENDS, meaning these people aren't even close to being real friends of ours, let alone real connections. Bottom line is this, while everyone else is advising their clients that they need properly written landing pages funnels, ads, perfect offers, I know there are exceptions to this rule because I'm one of those exceptions. When Scott knew how much I resisted sales, marketing and asking for money, instead of telling me I need to invest time and money in getting knowledgeable in these areas, and then maybe one day down the road like years away, I might get good, he took me in a different direction, the path of least resistance, that required less effort for me, and most importantly, most enjoyable for me. That's why Scott made certain the entire design of 1111 as well as the shows format could not have conversations related to the things I disliked most about being a business ower, asking for money, promotion or selling. I really believe I am living proof that anybody can succeed as an entrepreneur if they really want to, and if they get the right guidance and support to find the right way for us that doesnt have us loosing our freedom from the get go by the very fact that we find any aspect of operating our businesses to be hard, like suffering and not enjoying every aspect of our work. You have taken the courses, gone through the trainings, read all the right books, even tried putting some of what you learned in action, BUT whatever you tried, nothing worked, AND this style of marketing is just not YOU, and your spirit knows it. It is not that it's wrong, IT JUST IS NOT THE NATURAL YOU. AND YOU FEEL FORCED TO HAVE TO PUT ON A 'SHOW' Don't have a specific passion project?
